Wireless Ad hoc and Sensor Networks (WASNs) are most commonly referred to as wireless interconnections of a large number of sensor nodes, communicating without any pre-existing infrastructure. WASN technologies will have huge influence on many civilian and military applications, including for example national security, transportation systems, health care and environmental monitoring. WASN has received tremendous attention from both academia and industry worldwide, Known as a leader in applied computer research and education, University of Colombo School of Computing (UCSC) will together with the technical expertise provided by Ericsson and Volvo build a national R&D and education center for WASN, financed by SPIDER. This in turn brought about a Research lab in the UCSC it self. Our main aim is to provide Wireless Ad-Hoc research experience to our undergraduate students. We are also concerned on trying our level best to conduct research such that they would provide help address some national level problems in our country. |
