Nuwan Ishanta Senaratna a student of the University of Colombo School of Computing (UCSC) won the Gold Award under the tertiary student project category at the Asia Pacific ICT Awards (APICTA) held in Macau in November 2006. He is the first Sri Lankan to win a gold award at APICTA. His project defines Automatic Music Composition using a Tree of Interacting Emergent Systems.
