3D Modeling & Animation

This innovative course will engage students in the all aspect of 3D animation which covers modeling, texturing, lighting, rendering and character animation. Alongside the core practical skills, students also learn enriching conceptual and theoretical topics such as art, design and fundamentals of video production.

Course Description

Image Processing & Vector Graphichs

Basics of Visual Language, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator

Autodesk 3ds Max

    Introduction to Interface
    Dealing with objects
    Animation
    NURBS
    Maping
    Lighting
    Camera
    Special Effects (Modifiers, Effects)

    Rendering

    Reactors, Simulations

    Dynamic Animation

Character Animation

Motion capturing

Max Script & Plugins

Introduction to Digital Video Production

Overview of Digital Video Technology, Visual Composition Basic Theory's, Basic Photography, Basic Camera Angels, Editing Techniques with Premiere Pro and Special Effects with Adobe After Effects

Enhanced video tricks

Computer generated Animations are blended with real footage to create digitally enhanced videos that are practically impossible or extremely expensive to produce in the real world.

Final Project

30 - second Computer generated Animation

Lectures conduct by well known experts from leading media stations & experienced media personel from UCSC

Duration : 54 Hrs

Starting on : 12^th June 2010 (Saturday 1.00 pm - 6.00 pm)

A Self prepared application with the course fee in cash or by a cheque (personal cheques not accepted) payable to the "University of Colombo School of Computing-ADMTC" should be handed over to the Coordinator, Advanced Digital Media technology Centre, University of Colombo School of Computing , No. 35, Reid Avenue, Colombo 7. The Number of places is limited to 16 and will be filled strictly on a first-come-first-served basis.
